ASIO Future Technologists Graduate Program
February and June 2020 Intake

The Program

ASIO's Future Technologists Graduate Program is a 12-month, non-assessable program designed to showcase and prepare new starters for the breadth of technical work that occurs within a frontline intelligence agency. The environment is dynamic, challenging and fast-paced.

We are seeking graduates who are passionate about - and committed to - technology to work collaboratively in small teams in addressing the mission. As an operational or enterprise technology officer within the Future Technologists program you will directly and immediately contribute to the protection of Australia, its people and its interests.

The Future Technologists program commences in February and June during which you may be involved in some of the following responsibilities (for which we will prepare you accordingly):

- using neural networks to advance operational efforts;
- undertaking complex data analysis and visualization;
- applying software development skills to exploit technically collected data;
- using hardware and software to develop and automate services;
- assuring the ongoing security of ASIO's ICT infrastructure;
- supporting cybersecurity investigations;
- conducting forensic analysis of digital media;
- provisioning warranted and open-source technical collection capabilities, such as telecommunications interceptions;
- evaluating technical surveillance counter measures;
- engineering field-deployable technical solutions.

Candidates should also be able to:

- work collaboratively in small, dynamic teams;
- display an ongoing commitment to technical learning;
- design and deliver innovative solutions to constantly evolving technical problems.


If you would like to be considered for this diverse and stimulating technical program, you must:
- be an Australian citizen;
- be assessed as suitable to hold and maintain the requisite security clearance;
- have completed - or be in your final year of - a degree of technical relevance, which includes but is not limited to: data science and analytics, cyber/information security, ICT systems integration and management, software development, network engineering, telecommunications, electrical and communication engineering and emerging technologies; and
- be willing to relocate to Canberra. (noting ASIO will cover removal costs)
