The opportunity

As an Employment Relations Officer your primary focus will be on promoting positive working relationships, resolving conflicts and ensuring compliance with employment law. You will provide advice and support to employees and managers in relation to employment conditions, performance management, Code of Conduct, grievances and dispute resolution. You will also assist with the development, review and implementation of Organisational policies and procedures. 

A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.

Role responsibilities 

As an Employment Relations Officer in ASIO, you will:

- Respond to and provide advice to staff and management on queries related to complaints and ASIO's Code of Conduct.
- Progress and manage Code of Conduct complaints including (under supervision) the administration of complex case management investigations related to workplace behaviour and conduct matters.
- Provide guidance to staff to ensure consistent interpretation and application of Organisational policies and frameworks.

- An Australian citizen.
- Assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a TOP SECRET-Privileged Access security clearance.

Location

These positions are located in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney and applicants must be willing to relocate.  Relocation assistance is provided to successful candidates where ASIO requires you to relocate.

Employment conditions

Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. We recognise entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes. Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
